Abstract
This chapter focuses on interpreting in judicial settings and it takes the approach of identifying possible problem areas and suggesting ways of solving these problems. To ground the discussion on court interpreting, the chapter begins with a brief historical view of the development of court interpreting as a profession. This is followed by a discussion of the professional requirements for court interpreting and illustrations, from the Kenyan context, the errors that could arise if high professional standards are not maintained. The chapter ends with suggestions on how to ensure quality interpreting in the courtroom set up.
