Abstract
Pentecostal church leaders face the dual challenge of fostering spiritual growth and ensuring financial sustainability within their congregations. To achieve financial development, these churches often adopt a combination of traditional financing strategies, including fundraising, donations, and member contributions. However, the effectiveness of these strategies in promoting church capital growth remains underexplored, particularly in comparison to biblical principles of stewardship and resource mobilization. This study examined the effectiveness of traditional financing strategies for capital growth in Full Gospel Churches, focusing on fundraising, donations, and member contributions. The research was conducted as a case study of the Full Gospel Churches in Kikuyu Sub-County, Kenya. The target population consisted of 15 church branches, with financial records serving as the secondary data source. A census approach was adopted to analyze financial data. Data were documented over four years (2021-2024), ensuring comprehensive representation of all churches in the region. The study employed a descriptive and explanatory research design, utilizing panel data analysis to explore the influence of financing strategies on church capital growth. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to church leaders and via SPSS software version 26.0. Findings reveal that church fundraising has a positive and significant effect on capital growth (β=0.5614, p=0.000). Conversely, member contributions negatively affect church capital growth (β=-1.200, p=0.000). Additionally, well-wishers’ donations positively and significantly influence church capital growth (β=1.100, p=0.000). These findings underscore the need for churches to diversify revenue sources beyond member contributions to enhance financial growth and sustainability.
